Postdoctoral position in osteoclast and tissular pathophysiology, Montrouge (Paris), France
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic post-doctoral researcher with a strong background in bone biology to join our team in a project funded by the French National Agency of research (ANR) and focusing on the osteoclast biology and molecular pathways associated to bone resorption, mineral homeostasis and bone remodeling cross-talks.
Host laboratory:
The EA2496 Odontology Paris Descartes, France, (http://recherche.parisdescartes.fr/ea2496_eng) is recognized for its expertise in calcified tissues and rare bone and tooth disorders. Researchers being involved in this team, have developed a robust expertise in the study of bone and tooth pathophysiology, from development to wound healing, in normal conditions and in the context of rare disorders related to the mineral metabolism. This team possesses cell culture facilities (L1+L2), and the expertise to culture human, mouse and rat mesenchymal stem cells derived from bone and tooth. This laboratory is fully equipped to perform biochemistry and molecular biology and has its own animal facility, which hosts various mouse lines. It has acquired on site an in vivo micro-CT for small animals (PIV facility).
Project:
The post-doc will participate to a project recently founded by the French National Research Agency (ANR). The overall objectives of this project is to understand the pathophysiological functions of a specific gene/protein in 1) bone and tooth formation, and bone homeostasis, 2) large vessel organization and the development of ectopic calcifications, 3) renal tubule function and the maintenance of mineral homeostasis, 4) glomerulus and podocyte homeostasis.
The post-doc will be specifically in charge of the in-depth characterization of osteoclasts in terms of their origin, function and specific signaling pathways to understand their contribution to the bone integrity. The project combines analysis in vitro, in vivo in murine models of chronic diseases associated with bone destruction. The aim is to identify new clues for molecular pathways as well as novel information on osteoclast biology.
Requirements:
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented post-doctoral researcher with a strong background in osteoclast osteoimmunology, immunology or bone biology, assessed by publications. She/ he must have a strong experience in osteoclast biology, biochemistry, molecular biology and animal experimentation. Ability to work independently, and excellent team, communication and organization skills are essential. French or English practice is mandatory. The salary is according to the rules of the French public service and depends on the experience (30 to 45k€ annual gross). The position is funded for 18 months.
To apply:
Applicants should submit (in French or in English) their CV and publication list, the name and email of 3 references and a brief statement of past achievements and research interests to Pr Rochefort (gael.rochefort@parisdescartes.fr) and Pr Chaussain (catherine.chaussain@parisdescartes.fr) Deadline for application: no later than March 30, 2018.
Starting: 2018.
